Purpose of the training: How to adminster, score and interpret the results of the Test of Basic Concepts Knowledge (TBCK-R)

Target Group: Learning Support Teachers

Venue: Metro, Ndabeni, Cape Town

My concern about my learners’ language barriers and how to overcome these barriers has been solved for me.

For me the most effective aspect was the basic teaching model.  When I implemented the model I found that my learners were more focussed when I followed the steps of the model.

I was very happy about my development on this course… often as teachers we do not pay attention to detail, but because of Basic Concepts I was aware of the lack of language use in my class. The BCP is about the way we talk to the children in class and how we give lessons in class. How we should introduce a topic to the children and mediate with them.

The workshop helped me to understand how to work with the children in the classroom. I also learnt how to ask open-ended questions that will encourage my learners to think and to ask more questions.

I understand how I can assist my learners who need intervention. The BCP will boost the self-esteem and knowledge of weak learners. It definitely helps me to guide my learners, using the correct language applicable to the situation.
